Automated Laser Cleaning for Dump Truck Bodies

In 2025, a manufacturing group required an advanced solution to replace manual grinding for removing rust from dump truck bodies. Traditional methods suffered from low efficiency, high labor intensity, uneven cleaning results, and incomplete rust removal. These issues reduced coating adhesion, shortened product lifespan, and increased production costs.

To solve this, SFX Laser developed a customized ZLC-6070 intelligent laser cleaning system, designed for large-scale industrial applications.

The system features dual 3000W laser modules (total 6000W power) with a continuous laser mode and adjustable cleaning width from 10–700mm, allowing flexible coverage of different areas. It uses a stable water-cooling system and supports multi-axis motion (up to 7 axes), enabling precise cleaning of large and complex surfaces.

Testing showed a major efficiency boost: manual grinding required 2 workers per day for one truck body, while this system allows 1 worker to clean 2.5 units per day—about 5× more efficient.

Additionally, the cleaned surface is smoother and more uniform, significantly improving coating quality. The process generates no waste liquid or residue, meeting environmental standards and reducing disposal costs.
